WE GOT REVIEW BOMBED
Yesterday we got review bombed with around 140 1 star bot reviews which brought us from 66 reviews and 5 stars to 201 reviews and 2 stars.
This is commonly done by other developers trying to push their competitors off the main ("Popular") page, which, coincidentally, we were on. It tanked the game and pushed us down the page.
Though we have already reported this to Itch, this is still very unfortunate and demoralising for us, as we are just two people and there's barely anything we can do.
We appreciate everyone who has tried to help and spread the word, it means so much to us.

thats fucking wack. I wasnt even following this game and thats upsetting. I sincerely hope the Itch.io team gets these bots terminated, the reviews scrubbed, and ideally, tracks down who's responsible for this and deletes them off the platform. This type of intra-industry sabotage is so unbelievably toxic and shouldn't be permitted on a site meant for indie devs and artists to get started and put themselves out in such a vulnerable fashion.

That's horrible! I just looked at the Register page, and there are no anti-bot measures at all. I think Itch really needs to add Captcha to this site so this doesn't happen to anybody else.
For sure! It already happened to another game (He’s Just Away) right after us
The issue is now resolved, and the bot comments have been deleted. Thank you to everyone who has left a good review and has given us support, we really deeply appreciate it and it significantly has lifted our spirits. ❤️
Just curious, how do you know it was another game developer? Hope you get your ratings sorted out!
Sadly it is common for this to happen, even when they are unable to know specifically who it was

I PRAY this gets fixed! It’s so disheartening to see anyone do this, much less someone in the same community trying to reach the same goal. Great game, hope it gets fixed!

i haven't played your game, but this is just horribly sad. i've recieved random negative reviews in the past, but nothing on this scale. thus far i've just... turned off reviews when this happens. but yeah, it's incredibly discouraging. hang in there

You guys made a fun little game and there's room for everyone. Petty shit like that is unbecoming of indie devs and I hope you guys don't let that awful behavior get you down.

this is itch.io where indie games live. I can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that other small (hell maybe huge) devs are doing this as if this will stop anyone i mean- this game's cover art alone can draw in a lot of players (including me) I hope all the bot reviews get cleaned up soon :/
